The event chosen to determine the number of years separating the two civilizations was the death of Napoleon in our case,and in the earlier case the death of Alexander. This difference 0f 2144 years between hundreds of events and corresponding people works within a few years in most cases. The Romans had more small wars than we did in the period corresponding to the second half of the 20th Century. Perhaps that indicates that our race has advanced a bit in the two millenia. In the fields of science, art and literature the correspondences between leading individuals, their lines of endeavor and their dates are remarkable. The latter part of the book predicts, on the basis of the Roman example, that America will rule the world through a long imperial period beginning in the next century.
